Day 10: St Julien’s , Conche , Belburns

11/30/2014

Well, admittantly we are a few days behind. However, we've found somewhat of a good WIFI spot, and after the evenings festivities I hope to be caught up.

Had a lovely day today, and the weather was even a bit HOT (80F). And to whomever said that there were no GS dirt friendly tracks to be had was sorely incorrect. We were able to find about 150KMs of dirt roads, and another 80KMs on wed.

The first off road section we literally snuck up on this guy grazing.

This seems to bridge design appears typical off the beaten paths.

The St Juliens was a very small harbor, no gas, no hotel only about a dozen homes. They did have this iceberg though.
The trek into Conche was a well maintained gravel road. I did like the NFLD ingenuity on rebuilding this trailer home. I think it would be a nice SMIB north headquarters.

Always a good feeling to sit down for lunch with a dirt smile..

Conche has the biggest iceberg to date. It was also had the most unobstructed view of it.

Sleds like this one dot the roads, just waiting for the winter to come and they spring into action moving firewood from remote sections into town.

At Hawk Bay, we followed a 60KMs road. Although with at least two wrong turns, we probably added another 20 clicks. Besides the chuck hole gardens, the road also had about a ½ dozen sizable water holes. We bedded down a bit north of Gros Morne (Belburns) at an RV park with some very nice cabins.
